El Carmelo
A brand naming, identity and positioning for El Carmelo that repositions Mexican delivery through a tropical, island-led point of view inspired by the chef’s hometown of Isla del Carmen.

In a saturated delivery market, particularly within Mexican cuisine, differentiation required more than menu or price. The opportunity was to build a brand around a moment rather than category.
Drawing from the chef’s hometown of Isla del Carmen, El Carmelo was positioned as the only Mexican brand rooted in a tropical, coastal sensibility. The identity embraces the rhythm of island life, unhurried, expressive, and grounded in warmth, creating a clear contrast to conventional street-food branding.
A series of custom illustrations were developed as symbolic expressions of the brand’s world. They sit between myth and reality, capturing the spirit of island culture in a way that feels up-scale through modernity, distinctive, and approachable to a young spirit.
The visual system combines bold color, illustration, and typography to carry this point of view across packaging, menus, and delivery touchpoints. At unboxing, the experience extends beyond food, reinforcing a mindset rather than a message: no hay prisa.
Unboxing the food becomes unboxing an atmosphere. A scannable playlist sets the tone before the first squeeze of lime, extending the experience beyond the meal and creating a deeper connection with the brand.
